His Majesty’s Theatre and Facilities

We are excited to welcome you to His Majesty’s Theatre. Below you will find information about the venue and our facilities that you may need for your visit.

Accessible Toilets

His Majesty’s Theatre has one accessible toilet located directly inside the level access entrance and close to the Stalls auditorium.

There are further standard toilets located inside the Stalls auditorium. There are two Ladies toilets, one of which has step-free access and the other has 3 steps. The Gents can be accessed via 18 steps.

Bars and Kiosks

The Champagne Bar (foyer) and Merchandise Kiosk (foyer) have step-free access. Our staff are on hand throughout your visit to assist with any purchases you may wish to make. If you are unable to access the bars or kiosks then please speak to our access host upon arrival who will be happy to assist you.

Assistance Dogs

Assistance dogs are welcome in His Majesty’s Theatre. Our staff are always happy to look after your assistance dog for you whilst you enjoy your visit.

Medical Requirements

If you need to bring medication, food or drink to manage a medical condition, or medical equipment you are welcome to do so. Please ask to speak to a manager when you arrive before going through our security searches. Please note, with the exception of first aid equipment we are not in possession of any medical equipment.

Evacuation Policy

Our access hosts are trained in how to assist customers with access requirements in case of an emergency. These staff members will be specifically allocated to assist any customers with access requirements in an emergency situation.

Access to Seating and Viewing Areas

The Stalls auditorium has level access via Charles II Street and there are three dedicated non-transferrable wheelchair positions in rows E, J and M (aisle seats).

Additional seating for accompanying party members is also available. Any aisle seat in the Stalls (low numbers side) can be used for customers wishing to transfer from a wheelchair into a theatre seat.

Royal Circle – 32 steps from Ground Floor
Grand Circle – 63 steps from Ground Floor
Balcony – 90 steps from Ground Floor

Our trained access hosts will be available to assist visually impaired customers upon arrival and throughout their visit, if required.

Access to Performance

An Infra-Red audio enhancement system is available for deaf or hearing-impaired patrons. Headsets and hearing aid loops are available and should be requested from a member of Front of House staff upon arrival. Please advise the operator of this requirement when booking your tickets to ensure you are seated in a suitable area of the auditorium.

In conjunction with the Producer of each show, His Majesty’s Theatre hosts periodic accessible performances, including Audio-described, Captioned, BSL Interpreted and Relaxed performances.

Access Hosts

Our Access Hosts are available to assist customers with any specific requirements throughout their visit, so please speak to a member of staff upon arrival if you require assistance. Our staff are also on hand throughout your visit to assist with any purchases you may wish to make. If the bars or kiosks are not accessible to you, we can offer an in-seat service. There is a cloakroom available. Items can be checked in for £3 for clothing items and £5 for bags and suitcases.

As an access customer, what do I do when I arrive at the theatre?

Please make yourself known to any member of staff you will be taken to a dedicated Access Host who will be waiting to help.

Are there accessible toilets and what size are they?

There is 1 Accessible Toilet at His Majesty’s Theatre located at the back of the Stalls, which has level access via an entrance on Charles II Street. It has a footprint of 4.137m. The toilet is staffed through the incoming, interval and outgoing by our Welcome Host team. Please find staff at the back of the Stalls to access the toilet.

Does the merchandise stand have step free access?

There is a merchandise kiosk located in the foyer with step free access.

Do the bars have step free access?

The Champagne Bar in the Foyer has Step Free Access. For a full range the Welcome Host will be able to get anything you need from the bar and charge you in your seat with a mobile card or cash device.

If there are any ramps and if so, how steep are they?

There are no ramps.

What sizes of wheelchair do you accommodate?

All sizes, types and weights of wheelchairs may be accommodated.

Where are wheelchair spaces, transferable and non-transferable?

Non-transferable in the Stalls: E6 & 7, J6 & 7, M6 & 7

Transferable seats are also located in the Stalls, typically on the aisles depending on guest needs. These would be on the low number side, due to the step free access on this side of the building.

Members of our Access Scheme will be able to book accessible seating online where seating plans will have these options clearly marked.
