Theatre Royal Drury Lane and Facilities

We are excited to welcome you to the Theatre Royal Drury Lane. Below you will find information about the venue and our facilities that you may need for your visit.

Accessible Toilets

Theatre Royal Drury Lane has accessible toilets available on 3 of the 4 levels.

STALLS – Accessible toilet facilities are available on both sides of the auditorium, leading off from row M.

ROYAL CIRCLE – Accessible toilet facilities are available on both sides of the auditorium, leading off from row L.

GRAND CIRCLE – Accessible toilet facilities are available on the right hand side of the auditorium, leading off from row E (low numbers).

Bars and Kiosks

The Gift Shop and Cecil Beaton Bar are accessible from the step-free Russell Street entrance.

The Grand Saloon Bar and Ivor Novello Terrace are accessible from the Royal Circle level passenger lift.

The Rotunda champagne bar has 2 steps to take you there from the foyer.

Assistance Dogs

Assistance dogs are welcome in the Theatre Royal Drury Lane. Our staff are always happy to look after your assistance dog for you whilst you enjoy your visit.

Medical Requirements

If you need to bring medication, food or drink to manage a medical condition, or medical equipment you are welcome to do so. Please ask to speak to a manager when you arrive before going through our security searches. Please note, with the exception of first aid equipment we are not in possession of any medical equipment.

Evacuation Policy

Our access hosts are trained in how to assist customers with access requirements in case of an emergency. These staff members will be specifically allocated to assist any customers with access requirements in an emergency situation.

Access to Seating and Viewing Areas

A passenger lift is available to all 4 levels with step-free access and non-transferable wheelchair spaces available on all levels except for the Balcony. Step-free access is available from the Russell St entrance.

In the Stalls step-free access ramps from the foyer lead to the sides of row M providing easy access for wheelchair users. Transferrable Wheelchair users will find any of our inside aisle seats in the Stalls to be suitable.

Royal Circle – There are 39 steps to reach the rear of the level. Step-free access from the passenger lift is available to row L (low numbers side).

Grand Circle – There are 66 steps from ground floor level. Step-free access from the passenger lift is available to row E (low numbers side) or 2/3 steps down/up to rows D/F.

Balcony – There are 112 steps up from ground floor level. The passenger lift will take you to the front of the level where there are then 2 steps up to row B but there is no step-free access on this level.

Our trained access hosts will be available to assist visually impaired customers upon arrival and throughout their visit, if required.

Access to Performance

An Infra-Red audio enhancement system is available for deaf or hearing-impaired patrons. Headsets and hearing aid loops are available and should be requested from a member of Front of House staff upon arrival. Please advise the operator of this requirement when booking your tickets to ensure you are seated in a suitable area of the auditorium.

In conjunction with the Producer of each show, Theatre Royal Drury Lane hosts regularly scheduled assisted performances, including Audio-described, Captioned, BSL Interpreted and Relaxed performances.

Access Hosts

Our Access Hosts are available to assist customers with any specific requirements throughout their visit, so please speak to a member of staff upon arrival if you require assistance. Our staff are also on hand throughout your visit to assist with any purchases you may wish to make. If the bars or kiosks are not accessible to you, we can offer an in-seat service. There is a cloakroom available. Items can be checked in for £3 for clothing items and £5 for bags and suitcases.

Please could you supply sound, light and content warnings?

Frozen the Musical contains smoke, haze and strobe lights. You can find more specific content warnings here.

As an access customer, what do I do when I arrive at the theatre?

Make yourself known to the access hosts who will be waiting at the access entrance on Russell Street.

Are there accessible toilets and what size are they?

There are accessible toilets in all levels on both sides of the auditorium except for the Balcony. all the same size and spacious. Toilets are not locked. Access guests sitting in the Balcony will need to speak with a member of staff to escort them to the Grand Circle via the Lift.

Does the merchandise stand have step free access?

Yes, Disney’s Frozen gift shop is step free and accessible from the street via Russell Street.

Do the bars have step free access?

Yes there are and the Welcome Host will be able to get anything you need from the bar and charge you in your seat with a mobile card or cash device.

If there are any ramps and if so, how steep are they?

There are no ramps required as most areas are accessible without.

What sizes of wheelchair do you accommodate?

All sizes, types and weights of wheelchairs may be accomodated.

Where are wheelchair spaces, transferable and non-transferable?

Non Transferable:
Stalls Row M
Royal Circle Row K
Grand Circle Row E

Transferable wheelchair user seats are held in Stalls row C although any seat in the Stalls on an aisle would be suitable.

Members of our Access Scheme will be able to book accessible seating online where seating plans will have these options clearly marked.
