DORIAN the Musical
“DORIAN”: a new, Rock Musical gives Oscar Wilde’s classic story an edgy, modern twist.
Here we see a teenager, who gets everything he wishes for only to discover he is eternally seventeen. Who would actually wish for that?
“Why did I wish for youth? It is an unformed and sickly thing.”
A Rock Star, trapped in eternal adolescence, he wants to change the course of his life. To discover love. But can you find love if you’ve sold your soul to the Devil?
Dorian, the secret child of love and death, is suddenly thrust into a confusing world. A world where love dare not speak its name.
Inspired by The Picture of Dorian Gray, written over one hundred and twenty years ago, the universal themes of vanity, mortality, and corruption still resonate.
The show started out as a reading at Cafe Royal, in the very room where Oscar Wilde used to stage his own readings. It enjoyed a short life as a cabaret before evolving into a fully scored Rock Musical.
Joe Evans’ score sears through the action, propelled by influences from Bowie to Brecht.
