THROUGH THE STAGE DOOR is a unique opportunity to go behind the scenes at Theatre Royal Drury Lane, one of the most famous theatres in the world where you’ll be transported back in time to feel the mystical and historic atmosphere of London’s oldest and most fascinating theatre.

Since its construction in 1663, this theatre has triumphed over tragedy, fire, bankruptcy and even murder…

Drawing on the experience of professional actors, you’ll be taken on an incredible journey through some of the most intriguing episodes in the theatres 353 year history; be chilled by the spine tingling tales of the 500+ ghosts that haunt this building, find out why lavender is a banned substance, why whistling is frowned upon and revel in the bawdy anecdotes of many an actor, playwright and impressario!

The Theatre Royal Drury Lane tour also explores the Royal retiring rooms, front of house areas, intriguing backstage and the underground tunnels that lurk in the cellar….discover the secrets of the birthplace of the musical and modern acting.

PLEASE NOTE:
As there are lots of stairs, the tour is not recommended for the infirm and people are advised to wear flat shoes.
Please assemble in the Box Office area ten minutes before the tour commences.
Theatre Royal Drury Lane is a working building so the content of the tours may vary and due to rehearsals some areas may occasionally be closed.
