A Year of Extraordinary Performances at LW Theatres

What a year it’s been! In 2024, our theatres have never felt more alive. We’ve welcomed over 3 million visitors through our doors—each one part of the magic that makes LW Theatres so special.

From breaking more records with The Phantom of the Opera and Robin Hood to sold-out performances of Matilda the Musical and Back to the Future, it’s been a year to remember. And let’s not forget the groundbreaking productions of Crazy for You, Hello, Dolly!, and The Lehman Trilogy that stole both hearts and headlines. Oh, and a little something called The Tempest, which brought Shakespeare back to Theatre Royal Drury Lane for the first time in 100 years. Jamie Lloyd’s visionary production fulfilled Andrew and Madeleine Lloyd Webber’s long-held dream, and honestly, what a way to make history.

Beyond the Stage

Our stages have hosted so much more than musicals and plays this year. Across our venues, we staged an astonishing 206 concerts and events, welcoming global icons like Barry Manilow and Shawn Mendes. Comedy had its moment too, with Michael McIntyre celebrating 25 years of stand-up and The Fast Show bringing a touch of nostalgia to the Palladium. And let’s not forget Netflix’s premiere of The Gentlemen—yes, we had movie stars too.

Theatre isn’t just about what’s on stage—it’s about the full experience. This year, we continued to raise the curtain on our hospitality offerings, serving up memorable moments before the show even began. And the numbers? They speak for themselves.

Bold Moves and Big Wins

We made waves this year with a groundbreaking partnership with Cathay Pacific, putting us on the map for international audiences. This game-changing collaboration even earned us a nod for the European Sponsorship Awards—roll on March for the big night!

On the tech front, we rolled out the new Line-Up ticketing system, setting a whole new standard for efficiency and customer experience.

The People Who Make It Happen

This year we also celebrated the Vereen Irving, who took home the Industry Recognition Award at the Oliviers in April. After more than 45 years with the Adelphi Theatre and LW Theatres, Vereen, this one’s all yours.

Looking ahead, we’ve been hard at work on Discover LW Theatres, our new initiative to inspire the next generation of theatre professionals. From backstage workshops to technical apprenticeships, we’re opening doors to careers beyond the spotlight.
