Hello, Dolly! begins performances, lead by Dame Imelda Staunton

Posted 6th July 2024

It’s been a big couple of weeks for the team over at The London Palladium getting ready to begin performances for Hello, Dolly! From moving into the theatre, signing with the full orchestra for the first time (the largest in the West End!), and to the show’s leading lady being granted a surprise Damehood!

The thrilling news was announced alongside the King’s birthday celebrations. Our own Dolly Levi said of becoming a dame: “I feel genuinely humbled to be recognised on the same level as the amazing actresses, all the great dames.” She said she was delighted the honour “recognises my support for charity as well as my work as an actress”.

“I feel that this honour also recognises the importance of the arts in this country. Theatre, film and television are essential to our wellbeing, stand at the heart of our culture and are admired throughout the world,” she said.

All of us at LW Theatres are buzzing with anticipation for this epic show to open! Performances begin tonight, Saturday 6 July, with the official opening night set for Thursday 18 July. We can’t wait to bring you all the latest from photos of the cast in costume to official show video!
