The London Jazz Festival returns to the Studio for another year of incredible performances.
Our third series for the EFG London Jazz Festival at The Other Palace is our largest number of concerts yet. We’ve designed the programme to appeal to all tastes from traditional and swing to hard bop and Latin performed by soloists, small groups and big bands.
We are bringing together musicians from here and overseas, with established jazz legends and younger musicians with recognised and innovative formats.

Big Band Bash with Down for The Count Swing Orchestra
To open our 2018 EFG London Jazz Festival Series, we present the toe tapping, hip swaying and finger popping happy sounds of the swing era. And for their debut concert at The Other Palace Studio, the wonderful 11-piece Swing Orchestra, ‘ Down For The Count’ with their vocalists, under the direction of pianist, arranger Mike Paul-Smith.

An afternoon concert of stunning, original performances and improvised piano magic, from 6 outstanding international jazz pianists, in a wide range of styles with solos, duets and a finale featuring all six together.

Tina May’s Swinging Saturday Show
The effervescent, stylish, award winning singer Tina May, returning to The Other Palace from her Century of 100 Songs and a sell out Crazy Coqs Show, brings a band of fellow award winners to join her for a spectacular Saturday night out, playing a delightful selection of romantic ballads and swinging Standards from the great American Song book.

Phil DeGreg with Alan Barnes
Flying in for his London Jazz Festival debut, comes the US piano star Phil DeGreg, accomplished and comfortable in a wide range of jazz styles, ranging from mainstream to bebop. His versatility has led to performances with dozens of internationally recognised jazz artists, as well as leading and recording with his own groups. Phil DeGreg has released eleven outstanding recordings. For this concert he is joined by the all time great saxophones of multi- award winning Alan Barnes.

Tom Green Septet
Returning to the venue of their outstanding London Jazz Festival debut in 2016, The Tom Green Septet of assured young UK musicians present an evening of more original compositions, compelling arrangements and creative improvisations.

The Music of Miles Davis, John Coltrane & Cannonball Adderley with Chris Ingham’s REBOP
Needing no introduction to LJF supporters at The Other Palace, we welcome the return of the always sold out concerts by Chris Ingham’s mighty jazz sextet REBOP. Having enjoyed their concerts of ‘The Blue Note Years’ & “The music of Horace Silver”, audiences will be thrilled by this opportunity to re- connect with the music from Kind of Blue and other Miles Davis gems, presented as always with REBOP’s own imaginative creativity and improvisation

Freddie Gavita Quartet
Freddie is an in demand and versatiile young musician whose performances of the music of the all time great Clifford Brown have met with critical acclaim. His performances with Paloma Faith and his regular appearances with the Ronnie Scott’s Quintet have made him a favourite not only with jazz audiences but also those who just love good music.

Joanna Eden’s Latin Experience
No stranger to The Other Palace with her performances with Jazz at The Movies and her sold out shows singing not only the music of Ella Fitzgerald but also the unforgettable stories, the life and songs of Joni Mitchell, the effervescent Joanna Eden turns her attention to the sounds and rhythms of urban Rio, for an evening of delightful samba and bossa nova party music. Supported by top Latin jazz musicians on percussion, bass, guitar & saxophone.

Dave O’Higgins Quartet
Having performed at The Other Palace as a sideman with the Darius Brubeck Quartet, it’s a welcome return to the top saxophone playing of Dave O’Higgins with his well established quartet. He has been a popular figure on the UK and international jazz scene for 30 years, with 19 albums as leader under his belt.

The Gareth Lockrane Big Band
Arriving for their debut at The Other Palace comes the sensational 19-piece British Big Band, led by the original writing and arranging of the brilliant jazz flautist Gareth Lockrane.

New Orleans – The Early Years
For a party style concert in our final 2018 EFG London Jazz Festival Concert at The Other Palace, we present DixieMix. This first class band are long standing favourites with London audiences who enjoy their jazz in traditional styles. Following their sell out 2017 Festival show playing the music of Louis Armstrong, they return to play their distinctive interpretation of the Early Years of New Orleans Jazz, featuring the sounds of The Original Dixieland Jazz Band, King Oliver, Bix Beiderbecke and Jelly Roll Morton among others.
