Disney Theatrical Group announced that their new production of Hercules, directed and choreographed by Casey Nicholaw will open in the West End at Theatre Royal Drury Lane in summer 2025.

With music and lyrics by Alan Menken and David Zippel, a brand-new book by Robert Horn and Kwame Kwei-Armah and co-choreography by Tanisha ScottHercules is inspired by the 1997 Academy Award®-nominated animated film of the same name from Walt Disney Studios.

A stage adaptation of Hercules has been in development for several years. It had its first major workshop at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park and later had a production at the Paper Mill Playhouse. Most recently, a run took place in Hamburg earlier this year.

Favourite songs from Disney’s animated film Hercules include “Go the Distance,” “I Won’t Say (I’m In Love),” and “Zero to Hero.” Released in 1997, Hercules is a musical retelling of the classic Greek myth, following the titular hero as he discovers his divine heritage and strives to become a true hero. The film features a vibrant mix of gospel-inspired music, humor, and heartfelt moments, making it a beloved entry in Disney’s animated canon.
