Mother’s Ruin – Tue 17 Apr – Sat 21 Apr
Equal parts historical and hysterical, lose yourself in the company of sailors, barmaids and bootleggers in this darkly comic cabaret.
Mother’s Ruin is a raucous journey through 18th Century London, a few New York speakeasies, the Australian bush and the jungle of Peru. Discover a little more about your favourite drop, with this mixed up musical history lesson delivered with dry wit and “almost symbiotic harmonies” (Adelaide Advertiser).
With music originally performed by Amy Winehouse, Nina Simone, Martha Wainwright, Tom Wait, The Pretenders, Jessie J and more, Mother’s Ruin moves from misery to vaudeville in a moment, intertwining excess and prohibition, history and (re)invention.
Helena & Hermia: UNTUCKED – Sat 28 Apr
A forest rave, somewhere near London. Demetrius and Lysander have run off, deep into the forest to fight for Helena’s love. Their minds feel strangely…altered.
Helena & Hermia: UNTUCKED is a story about the relationship between love and power. A story told by two drag queens with lip-syncs to boot, offering an unflinching look at the oppression faced by women and queer people today.
