Line-up announced for the third episode of All That Scratch

Posted 7th May 2019

The line-up for the third episode of All That Scratch, a collaboration between The Other Palace and All That Productions, has been announced with brand-new musical theatre songs from emerging talent. The pieces will be performed live at the recording of the third episode of the podcast on Mon 20 May 7pm, with tickets priced at just £7.50.

The featured music will range from individual numbers from the earliest seed of an idea for a new musical, to songs from fully developed pieces. The full line-up was curated from open submissions over the past few months. The featured pieces include:

Sara’s Song‘ and ‘Off She Goes‘ from Boses (Voice) by Melisa Camba

Centre of Attention‘ and ‘Kardashi-un‘ from The Marriage of Kim Kwith music by Stephen Hyde, book and lyrics by Leo Mercer

Hear the Sound‘ from The Throwaways by Dylan Wynford

‘Sparks‘ from The Limit by Freya Smith and Jack Williams

Mother’s Day‘ and ‘New Year’s Baby‘ from Push! with music by Joe Beighton, lyrics by Sarah Day

It’s a hugely exciting selection of brand new songs including themes of motherhood, celebrity culture, millennial experience, and with pieces inspired by trailblazing mathematician Sophie Germain and Sara Ahmed’s ‘feminist snap’ ideology. A small snapshot of the vibrant new musical theatre writing in the UK.

Alex and Charlie of the All That Productions team said “We’re so proud to be able to continue to showcase exceptionally talented writing teams breaking new ground with the subject and styles of their new musical theatre writing”.

Kiki Stevenson, Artistic Programme Co-ordinator at The Other Palace explains why audiences should be excited about the event and podcast release, “The Other Palace has always championed the writing of new musicals, but All That Scratch is a truly grass-roots initiative showcasing great new writing with open submissions without the cost or pressure of producing a full production, and episode three is the most exciting yet.
