The Margot Fonteyn International Ballet Competition is the Royal Academy of Dance’s flagship annual event.
The Fonteyn (previously known as the Genée) is one of the most prestigious ballet competitions in the world, attracting the finest young dancers trained in the RAD syllabus, from around the globe.
The competition is dedicated to promoting and rewarding standards of excellence in young ballet dancers internationally. It offers aspiring dancers the unique opportunity to work with world-renowned choreographers and professionals, as well as the chance to perform on an international stage.
Alumni have gone on to careers with some of the most respected international ballet companies including The Royal Ballet.
The semi-finals will take place at RAD headquarters in south London on 25-27 October, with the final presented at His Majesty’s Theatre on 29 October.
This year’s judges will be Darcey Bussell (RAD President and Guest principal coach of The Royal Ballet), Aaron S. Watkin (Artistic Director of English National Ballet) and Amanda Britton (Chief Executive, Principal and Artistic Director of Rambert School). Valentino Zucchetti will be the Guest Choreographer.
